Research
Interest
In the absence of an invertebrate system, my research
focuses on using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans to understand
the pathogenicity of EPEC. Specifically I am interested in elucidating
both EPEC virulence mechanisms and novel genes required for infections
and novel host genes required for susceptibility or resistance to
infection. With 36% homology to human proteins, a C. elegans target
may be a substrate for therapeutic intervention.
